“I fell in love with something that wasn’t a person.”<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n

Originally from a Wyoming state, USA, Parker, 32, successfully learned the Welsh language in less than an year. <\/p>\n\n

The America started learning Welsh in November 2023 after moving to Trefriw, Conwy with his then partner.<\/p>\n\n

With support form Menter Iaith Conwy, Parker is now confident speaking Welsh, and is hoping to train as a Welsh language councillor. <\/p>\n\n

“Ma’ dysgu Cymraeg ‘di newid fy mywyd yn hollol,” he spoke to Newyddion S4C.<\/p>\n\n

“Nath ffrind fi Meirion, bos fi wan, nath o ddysgu fi\u2019r dywediad cwpan mewn d\u0175r \u2013 o\u2019n i’n union fel ‘na, jyst mewn perthynas ar \u00f4l perthynas oedd jyst di-ben.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

“Doedd gen i ddim cyfeiriad fy hun… Efo\u2019r Cymraeg, gesh i hwnna.”<\/p>\n\n

Family Connections<\/strong><\/p><\/p>\n\n

Paker who now lives in Bethesda, Gwynedd has learned several languages including Italian. <\/p>\n\n

But says he is passionate for the Welsh language as he feels he connects with his fathers family who was originally from Wales. <\/p>\n\n

“Dw i\u2019n teimlo\u2019n angerddol dros y Gymraeg achos ma’ hi\u2019n iaith brodorol,” meddai.<\/p>\n\n

“Ac efo ieithoedd brodorol, dw i\u2019n meddwl ma’ nhw\u2019n cysylltu ni efo\u2019r tirwedd a’n hanes ni \u2013 jyst bod yn rhan o wbath sy\u2019n fwy na ni.”<\/p>\n\n
