Project Timeframe: April 2024 – November 2024

Fee: £3,500 – £7,000

Closing Date: 12pm, Tuesday, 02.04.2024

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a new programme funded through Arts Council Wales’ Cysylltu a Ffynnu/Connect & Flourish programme with Race Council Cymru, Menter Iaith Conwy & Venue Cymru working in partnership.

As the project is focused on action research, you will need to be confident working in a flexible and developing environment as we test new and different ways of reaching new audiences, creatives and participants.

We aim to appoint Creative Practitioners who will contribute to the development of the programme and drive forward activities. You must be committed to challenging “the way things are done” and open to your own learning and development throughout the programme.

We are seeking applicants from culturally diverse communities and Welsh speakers for these roles.
For this role, you will need to be confident in communicating in English. Non-Welsh speakers will be required to improve their Welsh speaking as part of this role.

You need to be committed to always promoting and ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion, and comply with all relevant legislation.

Creative Practioners’ role

  • Working alongside the programme partners, the Creative Producer, other Creative Practitioners and participating communities to co-create new relevant & imaginative creative opportunities with our culturally diverse and Welsh speaking communities. Activities will take place across Conwy.
  • Bring your own lived experience to the creative programme participating and sharing in discussions that challenge the traditional ways of working and begin removing barriers to creation, participation and engagement.
  • Contribute to devising new relevant methods of reaching creatives, participants and audiences through conversation, collaboration and co-creation.
  • Commit to opportunities to develop your own learning and professional development.
  • Plan and host development opportunities for young people to identify career routes in the arts and possibly have young people shadowing your work.
  • Identify potential opportunities for collaborative learning with other creative projects in Conwy.
  • Able to ensure that all activities comply with Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI), GDPR, and Safeguarding legislation & policies of partners.
  • Supporting the collection of relevant monitoring data for the project where appropriate and participating in evaluation activities.

Experience

  • A passion for the arts and experience in delivering and co-creating projects with a diverse range of audiences.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of communities and supporting them to make choices and explore their own creativity and interests as participants, creatives and audiences.
  • A demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in the arts.
  • A commitment to protecting and celebrating the Welsh language, and improving your own knowledge of Welsh.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A passion for your own personal development and learning.
  • An understanding of action research methods – desirable but not essential.
  • Confident in working flexibly and helping to devise a programme at different stages of learning.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task well and remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Must be reliable and self-motivated, have a high positive attitude and be a good team member.
  • You will be required to undertake a DBS check if offered this role.
